Remarks

Long Jing is the first name that comes to the lips of any Chinese when asked about their country's teas. This name refers to the dragon shape of a rock unearthed during an excavation carried out 1700 years ago to drill a well in a village in Zhejiang. Later, in the 10th century, the inhabitants of the village had a temple built near the well and the numerous pilgrims going to the Long Jing temple had the opportunity to discover the tea produced in this region of the West Lake, henceforth called “Long Jing” or “Dragon Well” tea. We know that tea plantations already existed at the time of the Tang dynasty on the hills around the West Lake and the success of this tea was such, century after century, that the Long Jing appellation was recently adopted. be extended to the entire Zhejiang province, so as to meet demand. The “Shi Feng Long Jing” appellation is the most prestigious and it is an exclusive production from a garden of 18 trees planted at the time of Emperor Cianlong, a tea enthusiast.

Long Jing tea is very rich in amino acids and vitamins and the Chinese have long appreciated it for its thirst-quenching and digestive properties.
