Oriental Beauty
Oriental Beauty tea infusion offers aromas of citrus and flowers. The coppery top note is complemented by scents of rose petals and sweet muscat grapes. The finish is long and full, with a baked sweetness from honey-dipped figs. The depth of its aromas offers an exciting journey of flavor discovery that proves to be endless pleasure.
Suggestions from our Master
Oriental Beauty Oolong tea, or Dongfang Meiren, was the most valuable tea of the 20th century in Taiwan.
It traveled to the West and received its name from an English queen for the beautiful complexity of its taste. It is also known as champagne oolong or Bai Hao oolong.
The oriental beauty has a distinctive muscat grape aroma, brought to life by the tiny Jacobiasca formosana tea cricket. When the tea plant is stung by this insect, its defense mechanism secretes a specific hormone to preserve it. When tea leaves with a high level of this hormone undergo intensive oxidation during tea processing, the muscat aroma develops.
Tea crickets thrive in warm weather and are particularly active in late summer, making the harvest extremely seasonal. The multi-colored, finely twisted tea leaves produce a deep amber-colored infusion. The premium Oriental Beauty contains more tea buds, the white, eyebrow-shaped pieces of dry leaves covered with the down of young tea buds.Infusion time: 2-3 min
